Slideshow: Papier-Mâché Box Bags

Explosive demand for Enid’s designs led Collins of Texas to open a second factory in Puerto Rico in 1966, the same year the company opened a Fifth Avenue showroom in New York City. The Puerto Rico factory produced Enid’s new line of papier-mâché products including box bags and totes, plus jewelry and home decor. In spite of the line’s popularity, the factory operated only until 1968. (Hover on image to see title and description.)
