Whoo! Hoo! The enormous jeweled eyes express the owl's extraordinary night vision and not a bad fashion statement either. The larger 1963 "night owl" box bags in black and white appear to be the earliest, followed by the smaller box bags. The "nite owl" is a playful spelling for "night owl" - something you'll see in other titles as well (Hapi for happy, Poki for pokey).
